Multifactor Authentication (MFA) Microsoft Authenticator App
Instructions for downloading and installing the Microsoft Authenticator application
Faculty, staff, and students can download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app on their smart phone in preparation for Microsoft鈥檚 enhanced multifactor authentication (MFA) methods.
On your smart phone, visit the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) and search for 鈥淢icrosoft Authenticator. For more information on downloading and installing the app, you can visit Microsoft's page:
Make sure you select and install the official app from Microsoft:
Once you have the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on your smart phone, you are ready to sign in to your gcccd.edu account and complete the MFA setup.
Open your internet browser and go to outlook.office.com.
Enter your full email address on the Sign in page:
Enter your password on the Enter password page:
Since you already have the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, click on the 鈥淣ext鈥 button on the 鈥淜eep your account secure鈥 page:
On the next page, click on the 鈥淣ext鈥 button:
Now you are ready to have your phone handy with the Microsoft Authenticator opened.
Follow the instructions on this page to scan the QR code with your phone:
After you have successfully scanned the code, click on the 鈥淣ext鈥 button.
Now that you have registered your account with the Microsoft Authenticator app, you can provide a secondary method for MFA.
Here you can provide a phone number to receive a code or answer a call:
Click on the 鈥淣ext鈥 button after entering the required information.
You will either receive a text code or a phone call, depending on which method you chose.
Once you have completed this verification step, you will get a 鈥淰erification complete鈥 page.
Click on the 鈥淣ext鈥 button.
You will get a 鈥淪uccess鈥 page. Click on the 鈥淒one鈥 button.
This one-time process for setting up MFA is done.
When signing in to school resources with your gcccd.edu account, you will just need to complete the verification step with your Microsoft Authenticator app, so be sure to keep your phone handy when signing in.
