EL CAJON 鈥 Cuyamaca College officially dedicated its new 36,374-square-foot Student Services building that will stand as a gateway to the student-friendly Rancho San Diego campus for decades to come.

A ribbon-cutting event was held Thursday in front of the new, three-story building.

鈥淐uyamaca College is known throughout our community as a place where students come first, and this fabulous new building will serve as a central hub for students to engage and find the services they need to reach their educational and career goals,鈥 said Interim President Dr. Jessica Robinson.

The $38-million project was funded by Proposition V, a $398-million bond approved by East County voters in 2012 as an investment in the region鈥檚 future. Cuyamaca is one of two colleges in the 51视频 District, which a 2021 economic impact report found contributed $1.1 billion annually to the local economy.

Among the programs and departments housed in the new building are an Outreach Welcome Center, Financial Aid, Admissions and Records, Cashiers, Counseling Services, Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS), Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS), and CalWORKs. In addition to housing most of the student service programs, the building features a variety of outdoor learning and social spaces. Construction included a direct path of travel to upper campus with new ADA paths, sustainable landscaping including the planting of nearly 100 new, native trees, and a safe and central drop-off location.

鈥淥n behalf of Cuyamaca College and the 51视频 District, I want to thank the residents of East County for their strong support for our colleges,鈥 said Chancellor Lynn Neault. 鈥淧roposition V, which funded this magnificent project, has enabled us to build facilities like this, to keep up with the changing needs of our community.鈥
