EL CAJON, CA鈥擮n October 14, 2025, employers from around the region attended the 47th Annual Career Expo and Job Fair, at the Grossmont College Griffin Center. Originally scheduled to be hosted in the main quad, inclement weather required organizers to pivot to an indoor venue on campus. Despite the rainy weather, hundreds attended, and the event was a rousing success.

The event featured 87 registered companies and 79 employers from various industries around the region, and served over 500 students and jobseekers. Companies and prospective employers met with jobseekers to discuss industry trends, open roles and positions, benefits, and career growth opportunities.

鈥淚 have never attended such an active and engaging job fair,鈥 stated one participating employer. 鈥淚 was at another job fair just a couple of weeks ago, and it was maybe five percent of what we experienced at the Grossmont College 47th Annual Job Fair.鈥

This year鈥檚 expo featured a demonstration of an A.I. prompt based engineering project created within a Large Language Model (LLM), given by Grossmont College鈥檚 new Artificial Intelligence Program. Attendees were able to interact and engage with the A.I. program demonstration and get a better idea of the multiple ways to use A.I. The demonstration booth also included information on courses available as well as an opportunity to meet advisory board employers.

Beyond meeting with prospective employers, the event included translation services, resume and cover letter assistance, and workshops to learn how to improve soft skills. Grossmont College鈥檚 professional photographer took free headshots for attendees, with sponsor Goodwill providing professional attire at no additional cost. Also on hand was Griffin Radio, providing announcements and music for the occasion.

The success of the event was greatly enhanced, and would not be possible, with the support of local sponsors, including GoldenCare, Fastenal, the San Diego Refugee Forum, the San Diego Workforce Partnership, Goodwill Industries of San Diego, the International Rescue Committee, Public Consulting Group, the East County Chamber of Commerce, and the District鈥檚 Career Technical Education (CTE) Program.
