HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Find your path
Take the Career Coach Assessment:
Enroll at Cuyamaca or Grossmont College
- Step 1: Apply
- Step 2: Build your education plan
- Step 3: Register for Classes
- Step 4: Calculate your college budget
- California resident tuition: $46 per unit + Fees ($22-$29)
- Out-of-state tuition: $363 per unit
- Most classes are 3 units and full-time is a minimum of 12 units
- A 12 unit semester for a California resident would equal a tuition of approximately $552 plus fees
Financial Aid and Free Tuition Programs
Financial Aid can cover the cost of tuition and even help pay for books, supplies, and your daily needs. Complete the FAFSA or CADAA applications when you enroll in college to check your eligibility for these resources!
Additionally, the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Promise and the California College Promise Grant provide free tuition for California residents.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)
Learn English with Grossmont and Cuyamaca Colleges
- Step 1: Apply to Cuyamaca or Grossmont College
- Step 2: Take the online ESL self-assessment
- Step 3: Choose the class that meets your needs
- Level 1 (beginner): 12 units
- Level 2: 9 - 12 units
- Level 3: 9 - 12 units
- Level 4: 6 - 9 units
- Level 5: 6 units
- Level 6: (college-transfer English): 6 units
Level 1 classes may be available as non-credit, free classes in off-campus locations
Students at Level 4+ are encouraged to take classes toward their careers and college majors
ESL tutoring is also available!

Mountain Empire (ME) and Grossmont Adult Education (GAE) provide East County residents with academic foundations, workforce development, and transitions to college and career. Their career training programs include:
embedded support for English language learners options to complete high school diploma while attending FREE college low cost classes with options for financial support short term refresher classes in basic reading, writing, and math.
Dual Enrollment
Start college and complete your high school diploma at the same time! Students with foreign high school diplomas can also join. Tuition is free, and does not affect future financial aid. Residency might be waived as well.
